I like the ribbon/baloon logo. the multicolour big version. probably I would use the logo of the instititional one. so maybe the price could be shared between the two. peace. d On Mon, May 5, 2025 at 8:12 PM Koen De Hondt < koen(a)all-objects-all-the-time.st> wrote: > I prefer the first logo with the balloon/fire. I prefer the first logo with the balloon/fire. I agree with others that the font of the word “IWST” can be improved. It is not clear that the first letter is an “I”. It looks more like a “J”. my 2 cents: the logos on the first two pages, if you read fast without paying attention you may read lust instead of iwst (at least it happened to me). I like them specially the first one, however, me I would change maybe the case of the i to ensure it is understood as an i. Hello board, For the IWST logo, we launched last year a competition. We received several submissions, we filtered the “ugly” ones. The PDF below shows a selection of three, ranked by our preferences. (First one is our preferred one). We need from you: - validating/voting for the one we should use, as this logo will represent ESUG too. We prefer the first one, but we are open to suggestions. - to know if you have some proposals or modifications. We are thinking on asking some font changes, probably you have some extra requirements like color or so... - we talked last year a prize of 200€. Is that still ok? We could give it during the social event in the conference. Cheers, G & G

UKSTUG Meeting: Esteban Lorenzano - Pharo-CIG: C++ Interface Generator - 23 April 2025

by UK Smalltalk

For our April meeting, we'll be hosting Pharo's Esteban Lorenzano to talk about Pharo-CIG - a C++ Interface Generator. The Pharo FFI (Foreign Function Interface) system is an excellent tool that enables Pharo users to create bindings with external C libraries. However, there's a significant drawback that often discourages its use: the bindings must be manually created, a process that can be slow and prone to crashes. Pharo-CIG ( https://github.com/estebanlm/pharo-cig ) proposes a solution to bridge that gap. Esteban Lorenzano ( https://github.com/estebanlm/ ) studied Computer Sciences at Universidad de Buenos Aires, and worked since 1994 in several object-oriented and low-level technologies, in different software companies, serving in various positions from programmer to senior architect. In 2007 he co-founded Smallworks to offer Pharo-based agile development projects. Since 2012 he dedicated full time to developing the Pharo code and community. He works with the INRIA-EVREF team in Lille, France, as core developer for Pharo, being responsible with the coordination of new releases and the implementation and maintenance of several Pharo libraries. This will be an online meeting. If you'd like to join us, please sign up in advance on the meeting's Meetup page ( https://www.meetup.com/ukstug/events/305761373/ ) to receive the meeting details. Don’t forget to bring your laptop and drinks!
