Dear colleagues and friends,
It is with great sadness that we learned earlier this week of the passing of Bernard Pottier.
Bernard was a remarkable figure and a passionate advocate of Smalltalk.
He contributed to the creation of the Computer Science department at the University of Western Brittany in the 1980s, where he trained a large number of young students in programming and object modeling. In research as well, his involvement in the Smalltalk community was significant; for example, he was behind the first organization of the ESUG summer school in Brest in 1993.
A tribute will be paid to him on Thursday, November 7th.
